# Mindanao research audit Checked **September 22, 2026**. The calendar covers **September 23, 2026–December 31, 2027**. This expansion follows the request to prioritize southern Mindanao while including useful findings elsewhere. Added **266 celebration records, 342 occurrences and 82 source pages/documents**. Mindanao now has **360 celebration records / 457 occurrences**, compared with **94 / 115** before this pass. Of the additions, **217 are in Davao and SOCCSKSARGEN**, including **100 in the Davao provinces and Davao City**. The full Mindanao collection has **226 records in Davao and SOCCSKSARGEN** and uses **94 sources**, including earlier research. There are **60 new barangay, purok, sitio or small-chapel records**, alongside parish, town and provincial celebrations. “Celebration records” does not mean unrelated festivals: a town's cultural festival and its parish fiesta can be separate observances, and a provincial festival can share an anniversary date. **None of the newly added future occurrences has a verified year-specific program.** The additions contain **241 recurring estimates and 101 month/season windows**. Mindanao's previously sourced official September 29, 2026 Iligan celebration remains in the catalog. An annual feast day is not automatically the parade, concert or novena date. [Mindanao list and province counts](../mindanao_2026-2027.md) · [Mindanao CSV](../mindanao_2026-2027.csv) · [Searchable site](../fiesta_calendar.html) · [Complete source register](SOURCES.md) · [Validation](validation.json) ## Where the expansion is deepest | Research batch | Additions / treatment | Sources | | --- | --- | --- | | Davao and Samal parishes | 13 selected directory dates, then parish histories and individual reports to resolve missing or conflicting observances. | [Catholink Davao](https://catholink.ph/davao/), [Davao Catholic Herald](https://www.davaocatholicherald.com/) | | Davao del Norte and Davao de Oro | 33 selected Tagum diocesan-directory records. Old “Comval” addresses are grouped under Davao de Oro. Missing or suspicious feast fields were withheld. | [Tagum directory](https://catholink.ph/tagum/) | | Davao Oriental | 18 selected parish dates plus Sambuokan and the December Banayag festival month. | [Mati directory](https://catholink.ph/mati/), [Banaybanay ordinance](https://banaybanay.gov.ph/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Municipal-Ordinance-No.-2023-02.pdf) | | South Cotabato, Sarangani and General Santos parishes | 22 selected Marbel directory records, plus the bishop's independently located Fatima fiesta report. | [Marbel directory](https://catholink.ph/marbel/), [Fatima report](https://bishopdinualdo.wordpress.com/2017/05/16/communications-from-the-bishop-160/) | | Cotabato, Cotabato City and Sultan Kudarat parishes | 15 selected directory dates. Unresolved old municipality/province labels were not assigned modern boundaries by guesswork. | [Cotabato directory](https://catholink.ph/cotabato/) | | General Santos barangays and puroks | Examined all 25 profiles linked by the city-council index. Retained 53 fiesta/festival records, including 13 in Calumpang and 10 in Katangawan. Many sources retain 2011 calendar data. | [City council's barangay profiles](https://sp.gensantos.gov.ph/barangays/) | | Davao's smaller communities | Added named GKK celebrations in Subasta, Cabantian, Robinsons Highlands, La Verna and Sitio Sarro, plus Talicud Island, Malita and Matti parish records. GKK means a small Christian community. | Individual Herald and parish-directory links in the source register, IDs `MD_GKK_*` and `MD_MATTI`. | | Southern cultural festivals | Hinugyaw, Helobung, Hinublag, MunaTo, Kalimudan, Tuna, SarBay, Halad, Sinugba and municipal festivals across South Cotabato and all seven Sarangani towns. Includes small Cannery Site and Poblacion Tupi festivals. | LGU, PIA, PNA, DOT, DepEd, agricultural agencies and clearly identified local guides. | | Davao municipal and city festivals | Tagum's festival calendar, Davao's Duaw/Araw/Pasko celebrations, all five Davao Occidental municipalities, Sagawak, Bansaulog, Sambuokan and Banayag. | Individual `MD_*` source records preserve program age and month-only decisions. | | Maguindanao | 15 annual municipal festival dates from the Maguindanao del Sur inventory; additional historical seasons in Parang and Buldon, and current evidence of December Meguyaya in Upi. | [Provincial eight-page inventory](https://www.maguindanaodelsur.gov.ph/gov/images/tourism/mdsfestivals.pdf), [Upi report](https://bangsamoro.gov.ph/news/latest-news/peace-unity-take-center-stage-in-upis-23rd-meguyaya-festival/) | | Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi | Pakarajaan, Sakayan, Kamahardikaan/Agal-Agal and Sheikh Karimul Makhdum; historical July/August windows for Talipao's Maligay and Jolo's Rajah Baguinda. | Government reporting and [2020–2022 regional planning inventory, pp. 107–108](https://iag.org.ph/images/pdf/1st-BDP-Final.pdf). | | Surigao del Sur | 20 town/provincial celebrations from the tourism calendar. Biennial cycle and contradictory ranges were treated separately. | [Provincial festival schedule](https://surigaodelsur.gov.ph/tourism/schedule) | The prior collection was concentrated in Dapitan: 52 of the 94 Mindanao records were in Zamboanga del Norte. Those records and the earlier major-festival research are retained. This pass substantially improves the south; it is not an inventory of every Mindanao barangay. ## Date and location decisions | Finding | Calendar decision | | --- | --- | | January Santo Niño observances vary locally. | Bula, Shrine Hills, Kaputian and Mabini use their sourced January 15 local dates. Sitio Sarro, Talaingod and Midsayap use a sourced or inferred third-Sunday rule, giving January 17, 2027. Kinablangan's directory explicitly says third **Friday**, giving January 15, 2027. No single national rule was imposed on all places. | | Midsayap's patronal Sunday and Halad competition are different scheduling questions. | The record identifies the projected patronal Sunday; competition, parade and novena remain unannounced. [PIA supplies the festival month](https://mirror.pia.gov.ph/news/2022/03/10/lgu-midsayap-promotes-local-tourism-as-restrictions-ease); the weekday rule is separately attributed to a secondary reference. | | Bangkal's Lourdes directory date conflicts with parish history. | Used February 11 from the [parish history](https://www.davaocatholicherald.com/2023/11/our-lady-of-lourdes-parish-history/). The history describes a change from second Sunday of February in 2017; the suspect September 11 field was rejected. | | San Pablo, Matina, has a local January Sunday rule. | Used the last Sunday of January from its [parish history](https://www.davaocatholicherald.com/2024/06/san-pablo-parish-history/): January 31, 2027. | | Tibungco's Xavier fiesta moved to a Sunday. | The [local report](https://www.davaocatholicherald.com/2015/12/xavier-relic-makes-tibungco-parish-unique/) says Sunday on or before December 3. Estimates are November 29, 2026 and November 28, 2027. A separate raffle date was not treated as the feast day. | | Tagum has two distinct Christ the King churches. | Gonzalez Avenue cathedral and Rizal Street Christ the Eucharistic King parish remain separate. The sourced last-Sunday-of-the-liturgical-year rule gives November 22, 2026 and November 21, 2027. | | Fatima, General Santos, was placed in Calumpang by the directory. | The [bishop's first-hand May 13, 2017 report](https://bishopdinualdo.wordpress.com/2017/05/16/communications-from-the-bishop-160/) locates the fiesta in Barangay Fatima. The calendar uses that evidence instead of the apparently copied Calumpang address. | | General Santos profile tables sometimes repeat fields from other barangays. | Batomelong's copied-looking Baluan/Saint Patrick row was withheld; only the Baluan record is retained. Duplicate-looking general anniversary rows were not imported wholesale. | | Labangal gives dated 2011 activities whose annual rule is unclear. | Purok Magsaysay B's June 26, 2011 becomes a June window, not an automatic June 26 recurrence. Bagong Silang's older August 5 entry similarly remains an August window. | | Calumpang Holy Cross appears in both city and church inventories. | Kept one September 14 parish record. Other named puroks remain distinct; no duplicate main-parish celebration was added. | | Villa Park's OMPH celebration was June 12, 2026. | Retained the reported local day as an annual estimate, without replacing it with a universal devotional calendar date. La Verna's June 12 report remains a June window because the distinction between feast and eve is unresolved. | | Jose Abad Santos has old February and newer April festival evidence. | Used an April 2027 window for Kepiyaan/Kap'yaan based on the [state college's April 18–20, 2026 report](https://www2.spamast.edu.ph/spamast-jas-extension-shines-at-16th-kepiyaan-festival-2026/). | | Hinublag has January and December dates in older compilations. | Used the December 23 annual anchor from the [November 2025 PCO report](https://pia.gov.ph/news/pbbm-declares-local-non-working-holidays-in-six-municipalities-two-cities/). This does not assert a 2026/2027 non-working holiday. | | Tantangan's Kulitangtang is March in an old plan, January in newer reporting. | Used a January window from the [2025 government participant report](https://ati2.da.gov.ph/ati-12/content/article/jovellena-b-simbulan/tantangan-honors-ati-rtc-xii-during-64th-foundation-anniversary-and). | | Glan has a civic festival and a separate parish feast. | Lubi-Lubi remains an October window; Santa Catalina is November 25. They are separate traditions, not competing dates for one event. | | SarBay's 2026 format changed. | [MindaNews reported a simpler May 22 celebration](https://mindanews.com/top-stories/2026/04/sarangani-ditches-stars-popular-bands-for-sarbay-fest-due-to-fuel-crunch/). The 2027 record is May only; it promises neither the old multi-day program nor specific performers. | | Cocowayan is an older name for Isabela City's festival. | Used Sakayan, supported by the [2026 city report](https://isabelacity.gov.ph/isabela-city-celebrates-25-years-of-cityhood-with-2026-sakayan-festival-grand-opening/) and [PIA's naming explanation](https://pia.gov.ph/news/isabela-city-de-basilan-a-rising-star-in-tourism-and-culture-at-the-atop-pearl-awards-2024/). No second obsolete-name event was added. | | Tawi-Tawi's host venue and street-parade dates can vary. | September 27 is an estimated anniversary/culmination anchor for Kamahardikaan/Agal-Agal; host municipality and parade program remain pending. The old plan's Languyan venue was not assumed for both future years. | | South Upi and Talayan have September 22 festival anchors. | September 22, 2026 is the research date and is excluded. Their September 22, 2027 estimates are included. | | September-only windows may already be past in 2026. | Withheld those 2026 occurrences while retaining 2027 windows. This includes Tuna, Ugmad, Bansaulog and several Surigao del Sur festivals. | ## Withheld, conflicting and unfinished leads These are useful research findings, **not extra upcoming occurrences**. | Lead / source | Unresolved issue or next check | | --- | --- | | [Davao directory](https://catholink.ph/davao/) | San Judas Thaddeus October 8 and Marahan San Miguel June 24 appear questionable. Need independent local evidence; no replacement saint date was invented. | | [Tagum directory](https://catholink.ph/tagum/) | Withheld Tagum Fatima May 15, Sagrado Corazon/Apokon May 13, New Corella and Maniki San Isidro August 15, Asuncion Assumption April 4, Laak Holy Family May 16 / San Isidro April 4, and Panabo Santo Niño September 15. Several appear copied or mismatched. Apokon “Sunday” lacks an anchor. | | Sawata in the Tagum directory | Old Asuncion address needs reconciliation with present San Isidro municipal boundaries. | | [Marbel directory](https://catholink.ph/marbel/) | The Our Lady of Perpetual Help entry appears to repeat Surallah Lourdes details and February 11. Other parishes lack feast dates. Neither missing nor suspect values were filled from saint names. | | [Mati directory](https://catholink.ph/mati/) | Dahican Sacred Heart June 30 and Lambajon Sacred Heart June 6 may preserve old movable-feast dates; withheld without the local recurrence rule. Other unusual local dates are retained only as attributed directory estimates, not independently announced schedules. | | [Cotabato directory](https://catholink.ph/cotabato/) | Masiag, Sarmiento, Broce, Manday and some older Maguindanao labels need address/boundary checks before adding records. | | [Digos directory](https://catholink.ph/digos/) | No useful feast-date fields in the retrieved directory. The few Digos records use individual reports; much of Davao del Sur's parish network remains uncovered. | | [General Santos city-council profiles](https://sp.gensantos.gov.ph/barangays/) | Buayan, Dadiangas North and Mabuhay yielded no usable fiesta calendar. Batomelong has apparent copied fields; Conel's unnamed San Roque “purok” is not localized. Upper Labay has duplicated-looking surrounding anniversary rows. Blank or bare anniversary entries were not treated as fiestas. | | [San Isidro GKK report, May 2026](https://www.davaocatholicherald.com/2026/06/honoring-san-isidro-labrador-a-fiesta-of-faith-harvest-and-unity/) | Describes an annual May 24 fiesta shifted to May 23 in 2026, but does not sufficiently name the neighborhood for a distinct record. | | [Assumption GKK report, August 2026](https://www.davaocatholicherald.com/2026/08/gkk-our-lady-of-the-assumption-celebrates-its-3rd-patronal-fiesta-a-journey-of-faith-unity-and-mission/) | Parish affiliation is given, but the exact small community remains unresolved. | | [Inaul festival continuity](https://teal.ph/feature/a-hopeful-future-for-inaul-and-the-women-weavers-of-maguindanao/) | The old regional plan lists February in Buluan. Newer reporting describes a pause after 2019 and a separate 2022 fashion-show comeback. No resumption of the former annual festival was verified; withheld instead of projecting February 2027. | | Regional plan's Datu Piang Pastil and Marawi/Isabela rows | The [2020–2022 table](https://iag.org.ph/images/pdf/1st-BDP-Final.pdf) conflicts with the newer provincial festival names or has unresolved venue/date context. Datu Piang uses the newer Kulintang November 25 record; Datu Montawal's March 17 Pastil is separate. Tumahik, Kalilang sa Ranao and Dulang need current local corroboration. | | Sulu's Maligay and Rajah Baguinda | Retained as explicitly historical month windows from the regional plan. Current editions and actual venues remain unverified; these are among the weakest continuity claims in the added calendar. | | [Carrascal Pahinungod](https://surigaodelsur.gov.ph/tourism/schedule) | Provincial schedule says July 14–16 every two years; the cycle was not established, so neither future year was asserted. | | San Agustin Kalumonan | Same official page differs between August 24–28 and August 26–28. August window retained. | | Tampakan Tamfaken Lum Alay | Local guide gives June, while the old provincial plan gives August. June record explicitly carries the conflict; a current LGU program is needed. | | [Lebak Layagan](https://lebak.gov.ph/2025/10/27/77th-araw-ng-lebak-and-3rd-layagan-festival-2025/) | Municipal page was read but yielded no usable date. Separately documented August Kapeonan is included; Layagan is not assumed to be an additional annual date. | | [Bukidnon 2025 statistical yearbook](https://bukidnon.gov.ph/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/BUK-SYB-2025-2024-Data.pdf) | Indexed municipal fiesta tables are promising, but direct retrieval returned 403 and the full rows were not extracted. Existing Bukidnon coverage remains sparse. | | Davao de Oro, Cateel and other municipal festival leads | Current Bulawan naming, Cateel's Kutoo, Mati's Pujada, Magsaysay's Kialegnon and older Padigosan/Lanahan entries need stronger date and continuity evidence. Existing Davao de Oro March 8 provincial record is retained; an extra renamed version was not counted twice. | Northern Mindanao, Agusan, Lanao del Sur, Dinagat Islands and many Zamboanga municipalities still need deeper local inventories. The southern emphasis does not mean these areas have no fiestas. Even within the better-covered cities, unpublished barangay and chapel calendars remain a substantial gap. ## Retrieval and verification Research combined province/municipality queries with `fiesta`, `festival`, `feast day`, `patronal`, `barangay`, `purok`, `GKK`, `2026`, and `2027`; then compared general directories with named local reports. Government calendars, church publications and primary participant reports were preferred. Secondary directories, local blogs, social-post mirrors and historical plans are labeled as such. Some publishers allow indexed text but reject direct requests. The source register distinguishes those cases. The 32 MB regional-plan PDF exceeded the browser tool's size limit; indexed table text was compared with a [matching HTML transcript](https://dokumen.pub/1st-bangsamoro-development-plan-2020-2022.html). The old table was not bulk-imported. Dates in an old proclamation support historical observance only, not present legal holiday status. Temporary article/PDF downloads were used for factual extraction and removed. The folder retains names, places, dates, source links, uncertainty and the decisions above, rather than full copied articles. No organizers or public officials were contacted. The generator checks date arithmetic, cutoff boundaries, source IDs, duplicate records, blank exact-date fields for windows and agreement across the master list, dedicated exports and workbook. Added inclusive Sunday calculations were checked for both future years and a year when December 3 itself is Sunday. The offline site's Mindanao shortcut, southern filter, small-locality filter, search, month combinations, Metro Manila shortcut and reset were exercised with a Node DOM stub. A full browser visual review was not performed.
